Below are common questions and answers to help you register, log in, and file your Statement of Economic Interests.

Login and Password Help

I've entered my Filer ID and registration key, but they don't work. How can I log in?

Answer: When entering your registration key, make sure that you aren't entering the letter "I" instead of the number "1" (or vice versa). You should also make sure you aren't entering the letter "O" instead of the number "0". Enter your registration key in lowercase only.


I've logged in and created a password, but I can't remember it; how can I reset my password?

Answer: Click Forgot your password? and enter the email address you registered as your username so a new password can be generated and sent to you. After you log in, click the Change Password link and update your password.


I was able to log in previously, but now I can't. What should I do?

Answer: Be sure to click Already a User? if you have already registered your account. Make sure you are attempting to log in with the username (your email address) and the password you created. If you forgot your password, click Forgot your password? and a new one will be sent to the email address on file. If you are still having trouble, please contact our office and we can assist you.

Deadlines and Late Filing

Can I file online after the 05/02/2026 filing deadline?

Answer: No, the online portal closes at the end of the day on 05/02/2026. You will only be able to file a paper statement. Contact our office and we will advise.


It is past the 05/02/2026 filing deadline, but I still need to file. What should I do?

Answer: Please call (630) 232-5950 for assistance.


It is past the 05/02/2026 filing deadline and I have completed my filing, but I need to amend it. What should I do?

Answer: Please call (630) 232-5950 .


Are filers required to pay a fee?

Answer: No fee is required when you file by the 05/02/2026 deadline. Required Filers who do not submit their EIS by 05/02/2026 will incur a daily fee of $15.. If you requested a paper copy of the statement and you return it after 05/02/2026, you must include a check or money order equal to the daily fee of 15. to the Office of the Kane County Clerk. Failure to file by 05/15/2026 may result in forfeiture of office or position of employment. After 05/15/2026, filers who still have not submitted their EIS will incur an increased daily fee of $100.


When is the Statement of Economic Interest due?

Answer: 05/02/2026 each year. A $15 late filing fee is assessed after 05/02/2026. Additional late charges are incurred after 05/15/2026.

Account, Records, and Support

My position title is wrong, how can I correct it?

Answer: Please contact us at (630) 232-5950 for assistance with that change. Title refers to a job title, not "Mr., Mrs., Ms."


My name is misspelled; how can I correct it?

Answer: If you are using the Filer Portal to electronically submit your EIS, you can change the spelling of your name in the "Contact Information" page.
If you are filing on paper and your name is misspelled, please contact us at (630) 232-5950 for assistance with that change.


I don't believe I am required to file. What should I do?

Answer: Contact the appropriate administrator at your unit of government to address the issue.


I think I should be required to file, but I never received information to log in. What should I do?

Answer: Either your unit of government does not have you on their required list or they provided incorrect contact information for you. Contact your unit of government to resolve this issue.


How do I exit the system?

Answer: Always be sure to click the LOGOUT button on every screen in your filer module. We strongly recommend you use this button to effectively close out your session.


I do not have a computer, smart phone or Internet access. How can I file?

Answer: You can visit the County Clerk's office and complete the process while there. Or call our office at (630) 232-5950 to request a paper form by mail be sent to you.

Filing Requirements and Methods

Who is required to file a Statement of Economic Interest form?

Answer: Elected officials, appointed officials and employees of Local Units of Government. Names are provided to the clerk's office by the Unit of Government.


Where can I file a Statement of Economic Interests form in person?

Answer: If you are required to file because your name was submitted by a unit of government, a Statement of Economic Interests should be filed online with the information provided in the letter we emailed to you. Statements may also be filed in person at Kane County Government Center, Kane County Clerk's office (Building B) at 719 Batavia Ave, Geneva IL 60134 or at our Aurora office, 5 East Downer Place, Aurora IL 60505.


Can the Statement of Economic Interest form be mailed or faxed?

Answer: The form should be completed online with the information you received by email in our filer notification letter. If that is not possible, call (630) 232-5950 to request a paper form be sent to you by mail. Completed paper forms cannot be emailed or faxed. If this occurs the form will be returned to the filer, and the filer can mail in the original inked form.


I am no longer with my previous employer. How do I remove my name from your list?

Answer: Contact that unit of government and they will notify us to remove you from their list. The permission direction has to come from the unit of government.
